Mineplex
Is Mineplex back?
Short answer: yes. Here’s what happened to Mineplex — and how to play the relaunched server.
Yes — Mineplex is back. After the original server went offline, Mineplex relaunched and is playable again on Java Edition at play.mineplex.com. To see whether it’s online this very minute, check the live status page. Here’s the story, and how to jump back in.
What was Mineplex?
Mineplex was one of the biggest Minecraft minigame servers ever made. It launched in the early 2010s and grew into a giant of the mid-2010s — at its peak, one of the most popular servers in the world, with tens of thousands of players online at once.
It was best known for its huge library of minigames, including:
- Survival Games — battle-royale scavenging and combat.
- Super Smash Mobs — Smash-style fighting as Minecraft mobs.
- Block Hunt — hide-and-seek as disguised blocks.
- Cake Wars, Master Builders, Draw My Thing and many more.
What happened to Mineplex?
Like a lot of the big servers from that era, Mineplex faded over the years. Shifting player tastes, tough competition and behind-the-scenes troubles all took their toll, and player numbers slipped a long way from their peak. Eventually the original Java server went offline, and for a while Mineplex was gone.
So is Mineplex back now?
Yes. Mineplex has relaunched and is playable again on Java Edition. Like any server it can have the odd outage, so the quickest way to be sure it’s up right now is our live status check, which pings play.mineplex.com every minute — and you can see how busy it is on the players page.
How to join Mineplex
- Open Minecraft Java Edition (any version from 1.8 to the latest 1.21).
- Go to Multiplayer → Add Server.
- Paste the address
play.mineplex.comand hit Join Server.
Mineplex is Java-only for now — Bedrock Edition (phones, consoles, Windows 10/11) isn’t supported yet. If you can’t connect, the troubleshooting guide walks through the fixes, and the status page tells you whether it’s down for everyone or just you.
